A Memoir of Life on the Road, Nashville Dreams and Country Legends
As far back as his childhood, Pat Roberts dreamed of being a singer. With stars in his eyes and a wide range of influences from Johnny Cash to Roy Orbison, Pat walked the line of that dream. After landing a recording contract with Dot Records, an appearance on the Grand Ole Opry stage, and multiple tours with Merle Haggard, Orbison, and others, Pat got a taste of the Big Time.
After a short but sweet run, Pat moved from being on stage to being behind it. This move would bring him a level of success that few in the entertainment industry would ever achieve, and he became one of the biggest Concert Promoters in North America.
This book, Bright Lights, Music City tells of Pat’s journey from a young boy, who was given the encouragement and afforded the opportunity to pursue the career he dreamed of, and the career change that fulfills dreams he didn’t even know he had. Pat shares some of his favorite experiences, and tells some interesting and often, funny stories of trials and tribulations while out on the concert trail with some of the biggest names in Country Music.
“There are a handful of people who come into one’s life in the music and media businesses that leave a lasting mark on the industry and one personally. Pat Roberts is at the top of that list for me. Over a couple of decades, we worked together promoting great shows on the radio stations I owned and managed. Pat’s reputation, deep knowledge of the industry and talent for producing great live-music events, with respect for all involved, are unsurpassed. To have the honor of working with a gentleman who, above all, has integrity beyond reproach, like Pat, truly was a highlight of my career. To have him as a friend has been priceless. The experiences he shares here should be a must-read ‘textbook’ for music-industry aspirants and experienced professionals on how to do it right.”
